Canadian inflation has hit a 30-year high, pushing food prices to a whole new level.

To help, District 34 donated $1,000 to each of the nine food banks in York Region.

“Due to the rising costs of groceries, local food banks and food pantries are facing increasing demand for their services,” says Jose Fernandes, president, District 34. “Our District 34 members know the importance of this service to our community, and we’re proud to help make a difference.”

The food banks are Georgina Community Food Bank, Aurora Food Pantry, King Township Food Bank, Whitchurch Stouffville Food Bank, Newmarket Food Pantry, Vaughan Food Bank, Markham Food Bank, East Gwillimbury Food Bank and St. Vincent de Paul OLA Parish Food Bank in Richmond Hill.
